Calmap is an initiative aimed at pin pointing civil activities that affect peace in any fashion(positive or negative). The idea behind calmap is to give an idea to concerned parties where peace initiatives are having an effect to the community and hot spots where they need to be launched. Security authorities also would find the map useful in terms of measures to take and areas to target and focus on.
Community based reporting and policing is the primary source of information since these are the people who are at the grassroots and get to see what is happening first hand.
Area of  focus is Kenya
